I’ve shared a lot of my shopping for work clothes but didn’t get too attached to a lot of it because of all the weight loss. I’ve had to store a bunch of stuff at my dad’s house and I’m desperately clinging to some favorite too big pants with belts and longer tops because I’m sick of buying another. pair. of. damn. black. pants.
No idea what compelled me to buy this weird ass top from Dorothy Perkins but I’m kinda loving it now that it’s here, it fits and it was $9 on sale. (I was having some buyer’s remorse on its long trip from the UK. Patterns and I really don’t mix.) I’m planning to wear it tomorrow on “jeans day” with skinnies and nude flats.

I talked about these flats from Payless a while ago and I still swear by them and now have them in almost every color (still need the silver and navy). I wear them almost every day.

The Mossimo ankle pant in fit 3 is another one of those staples I want in every color. Along with the fuchsia, this bright blue is my fave right now, paired with a polka dot top. It’s also the only pair I have in a size that actually fits. Ugh.

In some bizarre online shopping frenzy, I wound up with 2 metallic gold tops so I’ve been dressing them down with a chunky cream cardigan, a dark denim pencil skirt and skinnies on jeans day.

The mustard corduroy skinnies are in regular rotation, paired with a grey cardigan. I also have a mustard cable knit sweater, a sweater dress, and a mustard cardi. Pretty much my fave color.
This Kirna Zabete Target colab sweater is my favorite coziest thing ever. It’s tunic length, basically looks like a sack, and I wear it with black velvet leggings and enjoy the feeling of glorified pajamas at work on mornings when I just can’t get it together.

One color I can’t get into is red. I had bought a little red dress on eBay and almost immediately gave it away. With black hair, I feel like red is just so cliche and it makes me very uncomfortable. I also don’t know what to think of all this emerald green mess.

I’m having trouble with my pants not fitting. I seem to have some that are too big, and some that are too tight… and that’s it. I’m about ready to just wear a sack to work. I’m especially reluctant to wear sorta-tight pants because I spend nearly 3 hours (total) on the bus to and from work. I’m basically living in a pair of (don’t laugh) Not Your Daughters Jeans brand black ponte knit pants that I paid $98 for from Nordstrom, but I wear them 2-3 times a week and they look awesome and are comfy. I nearly had a panic attack buying them for that price, but I probably spend about 10 cents per wear. I’ve been wearing a lot of J Crew cashmere sweaters that I scored on eBay for around $20 each. For shoes, I typically wear a pair of basic black leather ankle boots whenever I wear pants. I got a pair of French Sole Sloops that I wear occasionally to mix it up. I’m not sure why I’m always compelled to shop, because I just end up wearing the same damn things over and over.
Ha! I’ve been thinking about trying that brand on for the hell of it! I mean, I’m not 16 anymore and I like having everything smooth.
Those French Sole sloops have been super tempting since Natalie Dee mentioned them. Now they have your endorsement! Hmmm….
Sometimes you can find them crazy cheap at Nordstrom Rack. Basically, what makes pants good in my opinion is how they fit my particular body type, especially the waist to butt/hip ratio. If they gap in the back, I don’t care how much they cost, or how cool they are. So I tend to find a style/brand and stick to it. I will say that I prefer the ponte knit pants vs the actual JEANS.
I splurged on the Sloops as a back to work thing. I have terrible luck with flats causing blisters. I know Marianne got some on eBay at a slight reduction. Definitely do NOT order up a size though. They will stretch out. I like how there are no weird seams or other bits to rub my feet and the leather is super soft. The actual soles are thin and not cushiony, but it’s not terrible in an office environment. That’s my only minor complaint. Otherwise I love them a lot.

Okay… it’s a now a toss up between the Sloops and those Frye Carson flats. I may have to treat myself after my (hopeful) raise! :)
My slightly unethical advice: order each in two sizes from Zappos.com so you know which you prefer and which size is snug at first. Then send them all back. Then stalk the sales/eBay.

Black or grey dress pants or skirt, blouse, color cardigan. It’s like a uniform for me.
I wish so much I could wear mustard. There are so many fabulous pieces this year in that color but with my skin tone, it makes me look jaundiced. Emerald green does nothing for me either. Red, on the other hand, is totally my color.
I love the pattern on the weird ass DP top. Some of the oddest pieces often look amazing.

I LOVE the way you dress for work. You always look so professional and put together.
You make me want to up my game a bit! :)
That top was a HUGE hit at work. I mainly wore it with a cardi but, it’s so versatile. I have big plans!
I am so going to order those flats but in the gold. I have a sickness when it comes to gold shoes.
I still usually default to dresses at work because they’re just easier to put on in the morning and, I think, more flattering on my body. I recently bought these dresses from Target and am in love with them. I wore the black one with a white shirt underneath, but have plans to go sleeveless or with a cardi in spring and summer:

You’re gonna love those flats! Seriously… I live in them now!
You’re not the only one who’s raving about those dresses! They look sharp and easy!
I don’t know what my aversion to dresses and skirts is. It’s so stupid. I mean, I wear them but, I’m just ultimately more comfortable in pants.
I bought the flats. In the blush color but it was hard resisting every pair that wasn’t black (only because I have black cap-toed shoes.) If they feel good at work, I may have to pick up a second pair. I was walking by Payless and went in only due to of this post.

Love those flats! I haven’t been to a Payless in a long, long time, but I feel like they’ve morphed into a place with cute options instead of the weird things I used to find there when I was younger.
