singing in the car

I lost my iPod a while ago (I blame some chode at Jiffy Lube for stealing it) and haven’t been listening to music for months. I finally got my old Shuffle back from my mom and loaded it up with all my favorite sing-along songs. I’ve been doing nothing but wailing when I drive alone. I’m sure people at stop lights think I’m insane but it feels so good to belt your heart out.

Here are my favorite songs to sing along to in the car:

Jane’s Addiction – Jane Says … the live version from their album Kettle Whistle – can’t find that version anywhere!

Ladyhawke – Back of the Van

Kate Bush – Running up That Hill

Billy Idol – Rebel Yell

Pearl Jam – Once

Hole – Violet

Janis Joplin – Piece of my Heart

Warpaint – Elephants

Bjork – All is Full of Love

A Perfect Circle – Three Libras

Pearl Jam – Rearviewmirror

Jawbreaker – Condition Oakland

AFI – Rabbits are Roadkill on Route 37

Saves the Day – Always Ten Feet Tall

Beastie Boys – Get it Together – my ultimate karaoke song

What songs do you love to sing along to?

I’m with you on Rebel Yell! It only takes the first few notes, and then I get all fired up.

As for other great sing along songs for the car:

Paul Revere/Brass Monkey – Beastie Boys
One Week — Barenaked Ladies
It’s the End of the World As We Know It — REM
Paradise by the Dashboard Light – Meatloaf
Hair of the Dog – Nazareth
Slide – Goo Goo Dolls
I Got Game – Sir Mix a Lot
Night of the Living Baseheads – Public Enemy
No More Questions – Eazy E
Don’t Fight The Feeling – Too Short
The Globe – Big Audio Dynamite
Walk On – U2
Fake Plastic Trees – Radiohead

God…too many more to count. It’s hard to think of all the songs you just want to sing when you hear them!

ahaha I love your list! I sing along to most of those too!
The ones I listed are more like songs I could do at karaoke and sound okay doing them… at least in my mind I think I can pull it off. ;)

I’ve been banned from karaoke by my friends after a particularly terrible rendition of Sweet Caroline. But, they are right and I know it. I cannot carry a tune.

Did you ever see that Family Guy where Lois and Peter find some old weed stash and remember when they were a band? They had fond memories of perfect harmonies and in reality they sounded like cats mating? I had a particularly epic drunk karaoke night a long time ago and in my mind, I think I was the most amazing I had ever been but I don’t like admitting, I probably sounded like a dying animal! ;)
