Oscar

I only made it to 11pm w/ the Academy Awards  last night and passed out. I’m pretty bummed that True Grit didn’t win a single thing. I know everyone is saying how great The Social Network is but I’ve seen news documentaries on Zuckerberg and have no desire to watch a movie about Facebook. Give it a few more years and it will go the way of Friendster and Myspace. I also don’t care to see Black Swan. I really want to see all the foreign films, documentaries and animated shorts/full lengths though.

Oscar tweets flooded my timeline faster than I could read and when everyone has a different snarky opinion about every little thing, it’s exhausting.

I hope you guys are reading Tom & Lorenzo. They’ll be doing fabulous fashion roundups all day.

I also hope you will subscribe to everyday i show. It’s a Russian livejournal that shows collections of photography- vintage and contemporary. In a world of airbrushing, I really enjoyed this post of portraits by Martin Schoeller.

You know what? My mom is almost 65 (Mirren’s age) and with everyone saying how fantastic she’s looking, if this is what 65 looks like, my mom must really be 40. Photo editing is the devil y’all!

Word up. My mom is turning 60 this summer, and she looks at least 10 years younger than does Mirren. That said, I think Helen Mirren is amazingly handsome AND beautiful. I hate that we live in a culture where it takes balls of steel to show the world what you actually look like without the help of photoshop.

I just discovered your blog recently, and I was wondering if you frequent many Richmond art shows/openings, as you clearly have an interest in art.

    Happy Monday!

Helen Mirren is totally rocking it! Her body is amazing for her age. Have you seen the bikini pics? I was just startled to see the wrinkles in all of the pics in that photo collection since we’re never allowed to see them in magazines. It’s really warping our ideas of what we’re supposed to look like at any given age.

To your question, I went to shows religiously from the time I was about 14 until my mid-twenties. I used to be pretty involved with Gallery 5 but I haven’t been to nearly as many art openings and I would like to over the past few years.

I still haven’t seen the Social Network either. It’s in my Netflix, but I have a feeling it’s going to keep getting pushed down the list in favor of something better.
