Oh how I loathe those what’s in/what’s out lists! Sure, there are things I don’t personally like but, to outright say a certain style of whatever isn’t in anymore… who are these authorities?
In the February issue of Harper’s Bazaar, here’s what they’re saying is in and out:
- Apparently my favorite shoe shape, the high wedge, is out. Whatever. So, what’s taking their place, according to the fashion gods? Flat platforms (or flatforms). I don’t find this clunky look flattering at all and they certainly can’t replace the sex-appeal of a fabulous wedge.

- Next, big botanical prints are in and delicate quaint Liberty prints are out. Yeah, tell that to the girlie vintage fans. Do these magazines think there’s only one type of person out there? I’m not a huge fan of florals anyhow but I’ve been dying over this dress by Jules Reid for some time. (via)

- Bright colors are also in (aren’t they always?) and”camel on camel” is out. After camel coats and camel this and camel that being shoved down our throats for almost a year, now they’re saying no camel? Give me a break.
There were a few other asinine things I’m not even going to get into because I just can’t take this stuff seriously. Everyone can appreciate a woman who takes a little time to put herself together and anyone who is going to mince over your hobo bag being out because structured flap bags are in can kiss it.

I don’t care what the folks at Harper’s Bazaar think, I’ll still be wearing my wedges this year.
Viva la wedge!
Indeed! Those lists are ridiculous! Love your blog btw! Thanks for commenting! :)
amen, sista! i will always love camel, vintage liberty prints, and wedges. although, now that “bright colors” are in (how can a color be out??) maybe i’ll be able to sell some crazy 60′s/70′s prints that have been unpopular for a while…mwahahaha!
Those are fun prints too! I hope you do great with them!
