holiday decorating

DECORATIONS!!! I don’t do much. We have an arch in the long hallway so I hang things up there and hang stuff from the fireplace mantle in the bedroom with our stockings. I use fishing line and tiny tack nails/tape.

Yup, that’s the damn litter box and vinyl mouse stickers at the end of the hall.

the last of my robot wrapping paper – I got those laser-cut birds at Michael’s Crafts for $1 each

I also got our first tree this year! I watched waaay too much HGTV over the long weekend, while home alone. All the holiday decorating specials killed it and pushed me over the edge to finally get a tree. Dear Genevieve‘s holiday show was my favorite. She renovated the entire 1st floor of a couple’s new home and then went nuts with Christmas decorations. The theme was glitzy but inspired by nature so I decided to do a small 4′ white tree with a silver/gold/greens/burnt orange theme and a start to a collection of rustic ornaments. It goes with the color scheme in the living room.

There’s also the singing cat on a doorknob that meows “We Wish You a Merry Christmas” when you squeeze it, and a few random tiny trees on shelves and things. My little hidden panda in the bathroom gets his own teeny tree.

That’s it! How are you decorating?

Hooray! You got a tree! Your apartment is full of cheer! Damnit, I better start feeling better fast, I am chomping at the bit to start decorating and baking and all that domestic Christmas crap. Christmas is at my house this year, so the pressure is on. Your fudge looks amazing, by the way. Happy Freakin’ Holidays!

I love it! And I love your fireplace! Is that green/white the fireplace or your decoration? Either way, it is super cool looking. I need to do something around here. I put a wreath on the front door, which my neighbor complimented me on the other day, but that’s about it. I kind of want to buy one of those flat pre lit trees that you can store really easily and pull up into a tree through the Hammacher Schlemmer catalog, because that’s about my style! And I can decorate it with all my ornaments. (I collect Christmas ornaments when I travel, because those are at least useful.)

The green and white are actually the original tiles. It’s an old Victorian house. I love the little details in the place! I’ve seen those collapsible trees! They’re awesome! You should post pics!

I love your fat kitty, looks like my child.
Sorry to hear about the loss of your rat child, it’s always hard to loose a four legged child.

I love the owl ornament! It’s so cute!

We’ve yet to decorate anything, but I’ve got big hopes for this weekend!
