I don’t go to thrift stores on a regular basis. Once in a blue moon the bf and I will go on an adventure to see what weird shirts he can find but I rarely get a thing. The stores in Richmond are either crazy over-priced or totally picked over because we live in a college town and the hipsters are like locusts. We venture out to stores in the surrounding counties, in shady neighborhoods. Today, we went to a few.
Everyone’s so damn thrift happy on the fashion blogs these days I actually looked at the clothes this time. I found 2 immaculate grey wool Pendleton blazers that fit like a dream for $10 total at two separate stores. After digging around online, I found out that the longer one is from the 70s and the shorter from the 80s according to this informative vintage site. Their current blazers sell for $200-$300 now! I had no idea. I will definitely be thrifting more often for sure!
Info from Vintage Fashion Guild:
The Pendleton Woolen Mill of Oregon was opened in 1909, producing Indian blankets. In time, the blankets were used to make bathrobes and coats. By 1924 they started making the famous Pendleton Man’s wool shirt, and by 1929 they were producing a full line of menswear. In 1949, Pendleton first made women’s clothing. Most notable was their ’49er jacket – hip length, long-sleeved casual jacket with wide collar, patch pockets and large shell buttons down the front. The 49er is still being made by Pendleton today.
For many years, Pendleton raised their own sheep and spun and wove the wool. They sold the fabric as well as the blankets and finished clothing. At one time, Pendleton used 1% of all the wool produced in the US.
Pendleton worked exclusively in wool until 1972, when they produced their first spring line. Blue Pendleton labels indicate men’s clothing, and white labels are on women’s.
Oh, and the bf found a sweet shirt and the perfect air plant hanger like I had talked about for 35-cents! We need to clean it up and drill a hole in it. We found a few others online for cheap as well and plan on getting them soon to have a cluster in the corner of the living room.

Thanks! It was really weird finding the same brand in my size at two different stores, in perfect condition too! I think I’m officially addicted to thrifting now!
Swoon at the Pendletons! Love their blazers. I got a great dress/blazer Pendleton outfit off eBay for super cheap a few years ago.
They are made soooo well! I got really lucky! Now, I’m obsessed with vintage!
