what a week

in decor

Well, last week, the kitchen floors were finished and I attacked our pantry, painting over the dated olive green walls and installing new flooring in there as well. The last thing on my painting list has been the trim in the kitchen. It’s fine as it is. I’ve already done it but want it to be bright white instead of the eggshell we had lying around, that I used out of cosmetic necessity. I had high hopes of having that done by now but the best laid plans…. well, you know.

Last weekend, the bf and I visited his parents in Northern VA, ate Korean bbq and did a bunch of nothing really. At first I was really antsy but then welcomed some forced relaxation. We hit up Ikea on the way back home, filled my car to the brim, and visited one of my bf’s friends and his wife and baby who just moved back here from Korea. The wife and I got along grrrreat so I’m stoked about that. We got back to Richmond around 8pm on Sunday and had to lug box after heavy box up a flight of stairs. I was so wiped out but of course we had to start putting things together.

Ikea assembly lasted into Monday night. A friend visited on Tuesday, the bf took me out to a fancy dinner at Balliceaux on Wednesday, I had to give a sworn deposition for an accident I witnessed over a year ago (which really unnerved me) and a friend visited on Thursday, all week the bf has been researching a bigger tv and figuring out how we’ll hang the pendant lamp we got. Now it’s Friday and I’m back to thinking about painting.

Dinner at Balliceaux was wonderful. It’s less than 2 blocks from our apartment and I had been there once for a girls’ night out. We shared truffle fries, the pork belly and the steak. So decadent. I finally got to wear those super colorful BCBG heels and the plum BCBG dress… both absurd deals on clearance, with a muted wide gold belt! I haven’t dressed up in forever and was feeling pretty pretty.

About being a witness to an accident: I’m not going to go into the details yet but let me just tell you that insurance company lawyers who don’t want to pay an injured person’s medical bills incurred through the fault of their client are some of the nastiest people I have ever had to deal with. Apparently I handled her well and stood my ground because the truth is the truth, whether you like it or not. I still may have to appear in court. Not looking forward to that.
