I’m still in love with ankle boots. These are some breezy options for warm weather I’m considering right now.

An interview with Valentino on Charlie Rose last night. Oh this man!

Cannot wait to see the documentary!

For years, department store juniors sections have been suffocated with bright repetitive all-over prints. Rainbows and rainbow stars and rainbow birds and rainbow turtles never were my thing.  Then this trend infiltrated other trendier stores and it seemed like you just couldn’t get away from it. I tried a blue tee with red apples on it and felt incredibly juvenile as soon as I left the house. Now, it barely makes it into my pajama circuit. Design thankfully has gotten more abstract and I’ve really been enjoying some of the random off-center t-shirt designs at UO and the like these days.

Now this.

Vans. I love Vans.
Robots. Who the hell doesn’t like a damn robot?

I just don’t know about this.

Then, there’s this. I love Fifi Lapin and have been following the bunny’s blog for quite some time (secretly wishing I had thought of her idea a long time ago when I was brainstorming web comic ideas to no avail).

80s throwback LeSportsac, the king of all-over prints, has teamed up with Fifi for a new collection of travel bags and the sort. Who the hell doesn’t like a fashionable bunny?

There have been quite a lot of pluses and minuses in my life these days.

+

  • In the immediate sense, today I finished a paper that has been looming over my head for a while and is due on Wednesday. I have had about 8 hours of sleep in the past 72 hours yet I am supremely confident that I kicked some serious ass discussing one of the most mundane subjects I’ve had the displeasure of writing about.
  • I had a wonderful weekend with the boy and drove 360 miles in the rain without losing my mind. While changing radio stations in search of horrible songs to sing along to, I think I frightened him with my knowledge of some country song lyrics. I really can’t explain how I knew the words in the first place!
  • This past Friday a good friend of mine got married. It was a sudden thing with a few week’s notice. She was aiming for a subtle, humble Justice of the Peace kind of deal (where she was threatening to go in her PJs, as is her style).  Well, her family and friends really stepped up to the plate. She had a lovely ceremony- dress, flowers and all in record planning time. She also had a large turn-out to a reception dinner at an Ethiopian restaurant, which I think was pretty killer and ballsy of her to inflict on her friends. Nothing like eating unfamiliar exotic food with your hands! She wore pink Chucks to the dinner but wore these during the ceremony. She rocks and I’m incredibly happy for her.

  • Protect the man you love from psychos with a bulletproof pocket square called ”The Damned” by Sruli Recht.

  • I am so enamored with this Swedish outdoor furniture by Brafab. It’s so magical, I will be dreaming about spending hours snuggling and snoozing inside of it on a warm spring day, when I finally get some sleep tonight.

  • Whoa dude! I’m actually blogging a wee bit again!
  • If you’re a fan of leggings and tights, James from Too Many Tights not only has a blog about them – he makes them and they’re rad, original, and affordable. I’m especially enamored with the red tights with black birds. From the pics I’ve seen of his sewing table, he means serious business. Support your up and coming talent!
  • It’s been raining for days. This umbrella from Plasticland is precious and would make anyone you pass smile on a crappy day.

  • Christian Siriano is debuting some pretty amazing shoes to be available this fall at…. Payless! Oh holy hell! I will have at them all except for the ankle boots (already have plenty of those which I rarely even wear). Let’s just hope they don’t turn out to be as low quality as the Alice+Olivia monstrosities. Oh, and I’m not going to lie and act like I even know who Mr. Siriano is. I’m not even going to try and find out. The two middle pairs are killing me though and I don’t even like a covered platform.

  • Check out these masterpieces of footwear by Omelle.
  • In a wardrobe that consists mainly of black, I need some shoes like Valentino’s  Garavani. Can’t get enough of that color!

  • We are all turning into idiots.

  • It was a tragedy that my chest wouldn’t fit into a single dress I adored at the BCBG Max Azria outlet in MD. $400+ dresses for $89 and all made for pre-pubescent girls. I could cry.
  • Same disappointment goes for the Michael by Michael Kors cone heeled suede and wood sandals I tried on at a more upscale version of a DSW-type outlet store. I can’t find a picture of them to save my life but trust me, they would’ve turned heads as I passed and then broke my neck. They had the added platform at the ball of the foot that was smaller in diameter than the footbed. They felt incredibly unstable, like I was standing on a cue ball. The amazing deal they were still wasn’t enough to balance out the lack of stability and wear-to-cost ratio.
  • I have to wait until my birthday to wear this super cute moto jacket made from hoodie fabric. I can’t believe it came from Wet Seal. It won’t last past Spring but who really cares.

  • I have absolutely no idea what to do for my birthday. The thought of organizing all my friends doesn’t appeal to me one bit. I don’t believe in celebrating on a day other than your actual birthday and mine happens to fall on a Monday. I am in no mood to send out evites to a dinner no one really wants to go to in the first place, to sit at a large table and only be able to speak to the people immediately around me, and then force everyone to spend even more money on drinks. I don’t want drinks at a bar. I don’t want to be told what I should be doing by my friends anymore. I don’t want any sort of big deal made over me and I really don’t want any presents. Money is tight for everyone right now and I would feel so guilty if anyone wasted theirs on me, especially when I don’t even want much of anything but happiness and peace in my life. The place I did want to go to isn’t going to be open for 3 more weeks. I don’t want to dress up and I don’t want to sit on my ass all night. How about we just skip this birthday entirely? Last year’s festivities were enough to last me a  few more years at least. Oh! I do get to do advanced registration for my LAST CLASS EVER on my b-day!! Now that will be the best present ever!

  • Basic politeness keeps us all from being at constant war with one another. It’s a shame when common civility is rejected.
  • Some things just aren’t your problem. We all have our priorities and value our time differently.
  • Don’t ask questions you don’t want the answers to, then don’t act offended when you get the truth handed to you.
  • When people show you who they are, believe them.
  • Jealous people poison their own banquet and then eat it.
  • You always reveal who you really are in the end, so you end up proving some people right all along.
  • The heart that can no longer love passionately, furies with hate.
  • There is nothing more galling to angry people than the coolness of those on whom they wish to vent their vitriol.
  • People who need to constantly wield their power are usually more afraid of you than you are of them.
  • A pig is a pig… lipstick or not.
  • Spite is not lonely; envy follows closely.
  • Sometimes you just need to get over it.
