Once in a design class I had to cut out intricate patterns with an exacto knife and a self-healing mat. It was excruciating which is why I appreciate this type of craftiness and artistic talent that much more!

How one manages to be incredibly busy and lazy at the same time, I have no idea but, it’s an art I have mastered as of late. I haven’t had time or energy to post much recently so, here’s another journal entry.
Yes, I am a victim of large sunglassess… a bit squared off suits me better than the rounded insect eye style. I am still coveting the enameled Lanvin cuff (from last year?). The silver flats are laser cut. Those black platform Mary Janes are so perfect. I love the matte detail of the actual platform. The flapper dresses are velvety and so pretty. They look like they would be a lot of fun to dance in. That collar on the black satin jacket is so great, as well as the silver platform wedges. I would wear those shoes into the ground this coming summer!

I have a clear round acrylic bead necklace and the first night I wore it out, a few people told me they looked like beads used for uhm… a… sexual purpose. Maybe if it had sharp cubes in it as well, I wouldn’t feel so weird about wearing it again! I have really wanted to make a deconstructed knotted up silver chain necklace with multiple strands. I know it’s going to be one of those projects that I need to slowly start accumulating chains for, I just haven’t gotten on the ball for it. That silk floral dress is painfully pretty. Everything else is just saturated with the nicest of details.
That kitten makes me want to cry. My Ringo was about that tiny when I got him and had to bottle feed him every 4 hours for 2 months. Everyone said he wouldn’t make it and now he’s a 28 pound monster cat! (Maybe it was the turkey Gerber baby food I was fortifying his mother’s milk replacer with!)

You know I have a problem with copies (especially bad ones), but this copy is so well done… and I have wanted this shoe so badly, I am dangerously tempted to try to score it when it goes on sale. We shall see how weak I become.
Here we have the original L.A.M.B. Camden peeptoe ankle bootie in a mustard hue. I would prefer the black but you can see the details so much better here. This shoe is crafted from leather and has the scale/petal details all over with the quaint stitching at the top and the signature sole. This shoe retails for around $400.

Now here is the Bakers Ruffles version, synthetic with no scaling detail at the heel, the identical tack stitching halfway across the top and a plain sole. One problem with the raw edges of most cut sythetics is that they fray so, each one of those scales will have fuzzy edges after a while. (You can even see the beginnings of it on this new shoe!) The absence of the heel detail may be a benefit, if you pair these with skinnies and they creep down a bit and rub. I love this grey version. This shoe retails for $75.

Can anyone tell me about the factory process that resulted in this copy? How do these even get contracted out? How does a respected brand like Bakers get away with this?
Sinha-Stanic, a designing couple based in London have been receiving a bit of exposure since their debut in Fall 2005. Recently, they have been getting press on their cage shoes for the Spring 2009RTW collection. I’m more interested in the chaotic colorful prints I’ve had an affinity for lately.

“…shapes printed with intimations of catastrophe: lava bursts, palm trees against a blazing sky, cosmic explosions.”

Keeping with these random patterns, here’s the Akris Spring 2009RTW collection with delicate prints featuring pixilated photographs of gardens. So dreamy!

Someone cared very much for this little girl to try to help her walk again.

I recently saw a woman walking with deep suede fuchsia flats on, black tights and grey tweed wide-leg cuffed pants. I didn’t see what she had on top since I was too busy admiring her feet and wishing I had a camera. It was wintry and warm but lighthearted and a nice departure from obscene heels and well, skinny legs. This woman was stylish and comfortable… an A+ in my book.
A pair of bright flats could also perk up a little black dress… something we all have… and make it feel entirely new.
Here are my faves – all from Zappos. (They have the prettiest pictures!) :)

This page looks like a ton of fun Christmas presents. I barely know what a damn thing is on this page is so, I can’t send you in the right direction and well, this was from a year ago anyhow. Oh, there are the Voluspa Japonica three-wick candles! I have never smelled them before but they are quite large and fairly inexpensive and would make a decadent gift. The poppy print came from AllPosters.com but god help you if you try to find it in the almost 3,000 poppy offerings! I adore poppies and Queen Anne’s Lace like on that pillow. That mirror is so fanciful. Oh, and who doesn’t want a coin purse with a squirrel on it? Really, everything on these two pages appeal to a certain side of me that doesn’t come out very often.

The peacock is a glass serving platter. I don’t know what was going on with the clothing patterns in summer of 07. I was feeling pretty fancy-free I guess! The little tops are constructed with weighty detail, which is what really appeals to me. I still love a long dress in the summer and will forgive a loud pattern if it’s on a bohemian style dress. Round-toe shoes and gold were really doing it for me! (Check out the laser cut edges on those pumps!) The skull vest was from a Delia’s catalogue (still fun to get in the mail – a guilty pleasure) and so was the owl tank. There’s another monocromatic and compact floral arrangement and I love that Central Park pillow! The wood and hinged piece of jewelry is a ring not a bracelet… teeny tiny craftsmanship.
