A christmas wishlist…

  • long slender black leather gloves that extend beyond my elbows
  • the perfect pair of grey boots that I have yet to see and don’t believe exist
  • an adjustable dress form or some help, with a sense of humor in making one!
  • treats and more treats from World Market
  • the new Sigur Rós CD  Med Sud I Eyrum Vid Spilum Endalaust in a deluxe edition set
  • a replacement chunky chain link necklace
  • that Herkimer diamond ring by Erica Weiner…

  • a traditional ant farm with a queen and eggs and everything!
  • the strength and patience to sell a ton of stuff on eBay during my break
  • kisses kisses and more kisses!

That DIY dress form is an amazing idea, and maybe it’ll get me a little closer to having “making clothes” not be something that floats around in the back of my mind. If I still lived up there I’d totally help you do this!

I have seen that rough diamond ring somewhere before, maybe in my stumblings…

Funny story about the Maymont otters. I believe it was my 2003 summer trip up to visit my brother and we went there to check out all the gardens and animals. And we got to the otters, and started laughing because they were mating… well we were laughing at the reactions of the unattended childrens’ reactions, little boys and a little girl, maybe 8 years old. Their dialogue was pretty much word for word this:

“He rapin’ her! He rapin’ her! Lookit ‘im! He da underwater R. Kelly!”

In tears trying not to let them see us laughing. It hurt!

omg… I just laughed so hard! I used to freak out when our ducks would go at it… thought the same thing and would throw rocks at the males to get them to stop from “trying to drown” the lady ducks. Kids are so damn cute!

Yeah… the dress form is going to be an interesting project. I haven’t told the boy yet that he will be wrapping me in duct tape soon. I don’t think he’s going to have a problem with that! ;) Oh, and I read that if you somehow box the openings out after you’re done, you can get that insulation foam to fill it up. It hardens so the whole thing won’t collapse on you when you use it but is still lightweight. I would like to somehow rig a coathanger in it so I can hang it from this plant hanger thing I have… or the shower rod.

I mentioned that ring a while ago… it’s only $100. It’s sterling but still fake and I really don’t have $100 laying around to throw at a ring right now. ugh.

I hear you on those gray boots….and a chunky necklace would be nice. Excellent choices, all of them! Hope you get your hearts desires!

Girl, what is your ring size?

I’m going to give myself a project and make one. (Or attempt!) My original comment was saying I was pretty sure you could probably make one yourself for a lot less…

And then I remembered how I have been thinking too much into wtf to do for certain people for the holidays or general mailings in the near future, and coming up drawing blanks…

Hmmmm whatchya say?

Wow Marisa… how would you even begin to make a ring like that? I’ve played with wires and whatnot but wow… what would you do to make it?

and you know, I have no idea what my ring size is! I usually wear rings on my big ole right index finger which is a size 7 but would like to wear that herkimer on my right ring finger… crap… I need to figure these things out!

And what do you want? :)

@mary jo: I hope you get all you wish for too! This is just a “wish” list though… so I doubt it will all be fulfilled (and I’d really be happiest with the most simple things) but damn the grey booty search! Hours have been spent online looking. Hours.

I’m thinking… find a sterling silver setting / ring with a cheap-o stone in it (Target, Ross, Wal-Mart… one of those places…) Remove the stone. Replace with herkimer. Of course, I’d have to find one with the right length of prongs and whatnot… it’d likely be later than the holidays but I got excited when it popped into my mind…

That’s a fantastic idea! I hadn’t even thought of that! If you see any cheap settings send me a text or something. I’ll do the same… this could be an interesting hunt and maybe you’ll start making jewelry again! You still haven’t told me what you want for x-mas! :)

Ahhh haha I hate answering that question, uhmmm… surprise me?! I think you’re always good with your thoughtful surprises, even weird random stuff, or sentimental things, honestly whatever. I’ve been having trouble with the ideas I had for mailing things out, but hopefully this week I’ll figure it all out and be able to get to the post office before Christmas and mail some mailin’s!
