chains and loss

There are only a few articles of clothing I’ve owned that I would be devastated if something were to happen to them, as I’m really not that attached to things. These items include my peep-toe ankle boots, another is an odd asymmetrical top with bird silhouettes across the front that I am now nervous to wear too often because it’s getting a bit delicate. There was the landmark Dr. Martens trade of 1997 gone horribly wrong, where I not only got rid of my 8 eyelets but also lost the green 3 eyelets I traded them for. (That bitch.) A final thing is my mesh chain link necklace left at an ex’s house about a year ago. I have been mourning the loss of this necklace for far too long. The funny thing about it is it’s just a necklace and one can only make an issue out of getting something back for so long before it’s ridiculous. If someone refuses to cooperate with you and no one else remembers to grab it for you, and this ex is now expecting twins, you really can’t pop in months later expecting to get your necklace back. The only problem is that I can’t find the perfect replacement. So, in honor of my long lost beautiful chunky chain link necklace that I got soooooooooo many compliments on, here are some interesting alternatives that aren’t half bad (but still not as fabulous).
