I used to draw a lot when I was a child but rarely ever from my own imagination. I was excellent at copying models in gorgeous gowns out of magazines and such, but only when I tried my hand at architecture and designing fantasy homes could I draw from my own head.
Today was the last day of a 1/3 off custom framing sale at Ben Franklin and my mother has been insisting that I get this one drawing finally framed. Every time I look at it though, I find something wrong with it. I was touching things up at the very last minute before the woman took in the back. She told me I needed to let it go…

I took a few art foundation classes at VCU 8 years ago just for the heck of it, to break the monotony of academics. All my teachers said I should’ve switched my major to something artistic but I couldn’t see myself doing it at the time. I didn’t want to be a ”starving artist”. Now, I deeply regret not changing direction. Oh well. I can sit back and admire artists like Lauren Nassef… the type I always wanted to be.
